I have been nominated for the Sunshine Award, a huge thank you to Mischievous eyes for nominating me. My post will be coming tomorrow afternoon and you will be able to see all of my nominations and the answers to all of my questions but I thought I’d share a couple of answers with you now. Remember to look back to see my answers to the rest of the questions and my nominees!
What inspired you to start blogging?
I am not sure, I think I just wanted to write about all the things that really annoyed me and then my love for books started coming through and now it’s more book blog than rant blog.
How did you come up with the name for your blog?
Well I was young and grumpy and there was a lot of things I hated (and a few I loved) and that’s how it happened.
When I write a book review, I am always as fair as possible. I won’t review a book that I haven’t finished or a book that I really didn’t like. I always make sure that I have at least one positive thing to say and I am not interested in trashing authors and the reviews are my opinion not fact.
Somebody else might read the same book and might have a totally different set of thoughts on the work. All my reviews are honest (just as I would expect from anybody else reviewing a book), I also have no wish to cause anybody offense.
As a writer I am open to criticism and at no point have I claimed to be perfect. Surely being able to take constructive criticism or being able to appreciate other viewpoints is all part and parcel of writing, blogging and reading?
Recently I have been spending a lot of time reading others’ blogs and I have noticed by posts are considerably shorter than most. I tend to write posts that are around 150 words long. I do this as it means it short and sweet but can still have some real content.
A lot of blogs, though are writing pieces that are 500 plus words long, these are also the more successful blogs. Is this what people want? I personally get bored when there it too much read ( I am not very good at reading from a computer screen at the best if times).
I would love some feedback on this and to see what you guys think
Normally my posts are scheduled well in advance, but after a massive writing session on Tuesday, I just don’t have the energy for it. I also have no idea what to write about. Hopefully I will have something better up later guys!
I came across this entirely by chance, I believe I was looking at an art blog and Shared Blogg had liked it. This blog is open to contributors all you need to do in comment on the home page post and you will be added as a contributors. This is not only a great way to get people to read your blog who may never have noticed it before but also (and actually probably my favourite thing about it) a way to find new blogs to read and new bloggers to connect with.
You can find Shared Blogg HERE.
During the course of writing my blog I have also read a lot of authors blogs and there are hundreds of other writers here. I have an idea that I think could be fun, we all take the same title and write a 500 word short story and see what comes out. I was thinking something really cliche to start with ‘invisable’ perhaps and if people enjoy it, we could go from there.
If this is something you may be interested in, please comment below with any ideas for titles you may have.
I know I’m not the most technical poet, but sometimes I just have to get my feelings out on paper. So here we are…
Greed, Greed, Greed
We all want money,
We all want fame,
You only matter if we know your name.
Fake, Fake, Fake
Silicon and plastic added extras,
We like new noses, lips and tits,
And lipo to get rid of any wobbly bits.
Easy, Easy, Easy
People think they deserve so much,
Think everything should come naturally,
But you learn nothing in life is free.
Time, Time, Time
Is shorter than you think,
We’re not going to live forever,
It’s a shame we’re living in a time when all we can do is sink.
