Book Habits Tag!

Hi Everyone,

So here is another tag that I stole from a variety of Youtube videos – I just love doing them.

Ok so let’s begin.

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading? I do yes, this is normally on the sofa in a kind of lying down position. Sometimes I may also sit on the bed to read.
2. Bookmark or random piece of paper? I don’t often read tree books anymore but when I do, it is definitely a random piece of paper. As much as I would love one of those beautiful leather bookmarks that some people have I would just lose it,
3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages? I can stop reading at any time but I generally prefer when I have finished a chapter or when I get a certain  number of pages.
4. Do you eat or drink while reading? Yes normally I like to have a huge cup of tea to keep me going I will also read quite often when eating my lunch at work.
5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading? I can’t really have TV on when I read it just distracts me too much. I also watch shows that I need to concentrate on quite a bit such a film shows or documentaries and I don’t want to miss something. I love to listen to music quietly whilst reading though.
6. One book at a time or several at once? I can only read one book at a time if I read two or more it just confuses me and I don ‘t know where I’m up to.
7. Reading at home or everywhere? I take public transport to and from work so I often read then and also I will read at my desk during break and so on.
8. Reading out loud or silently in your head? Silently.
9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages? No, never.
10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new? I like  a book to stay looking nice and new as long as possible. Inevitably thought the spine is going to break or the corners of the book are going to curl, I just don’t want to rush that process.
11. Do you write in your books? No. When I was school I used to as the notes help me figure things out. Now I read for pleasure so I don’t need to.
12. Who do you tag? Everyone!

How I Read Tag…

book pile

Hi Everyone,

Here is another tag that I stole from youtube and this is the How I Read Tag, I hope you find this interesting and perhaps even try this one for yourselves.

How do you find out about new releases?

I find out about them in a number of ways. Book blogs, amazon and youtube to name but a few.

How did you get into reading?

I started really reading when I was nine and my brother had just started secondary school. He used to check out the maximum number of book a week – this would be six, four for him, two for me – and bring them home. This got my into to loads of authors some of which I still like now.

How have you tastes changed as you have grown older?

Yes they have. Chick lit was my genre in my teenage years and although I still read those books I am into other genres now. When I was eighteen I picked up Misery by Stephen King and that changed everything.

How often do buy books?

To be honest as I have a kindle I will just buy the odd book here and there as they are so cheap and so many collections are available. To be honest I buy books all the time.

How did you get into book blogging?

Last year my boyfriend saw something that I had written and persuaded me to put it on the blog. Initially this blog was not about books but it had developed from there.

How do you react when you don’t like the end of a book?

If I hate the ending of the book I just feel really disappointed. It it bothers me too much I may even shout at the book.

How often do you take a sneaky look at the last page of the book to see what happens?

Never. I absolutely hate spoilers. I avoid book reviews and will not go near the book’s blurb/summary. I want to discover things on my own.

Who are you going to tag?

Everyone!

Book Tag: Reading Slump…..

bookpile

This is another one of those tags that I saw on YouTube and decided to take part in. So let’s go.

  1. Are You Currently in a Reading Slump? No but I have just come out of one.
  2. When do you Usually have Reading Slumps and how Long do they Last For? I can have reading slumps at anytime and they generally occur when I am really not enjoying a book I started so I put it down. I don’t want to start another book in this situation as I haven’t finished the old one! Slumps can last anywhere from one week to three months for me – it depends how bad the book was that started it all.
  3. What are your Top Tips to Beat Reading Slumps? Go back to an author you know you really enjoy and that isn’t too much hard work. For instance I would never try a Stephen King book when trying to emerge from a slump as you have to work for those books. Normally I would read a light Chic Lit novel by Marian Keyes or Meg Cabot.

This is a really nice short simple tag (normally they have so many questions) and I tag you all to join. So do you get reading slumps? If so how do get out of them?

This or That Tag Part One

Beagle-books_scaled2

This is another tag I have discovered on the world-wide web as there are quite a few questions to answer and I don’t like writing huge blogs I’ll be doing it in parts.
So here we go:
Audio or book in hand?
Book in hand I have yet to ‘read’ an audio book it just doesn’t appeal to me I would get so distracted by other things.
Soft Cover or Hardback?
As much as I love my collection of more expensive books I do prefer paperbacks.  They are cheaper easier to read and they won’t be too heavy in your handbag.
Fiction or Non Fiction?
I may not read non fiction back to back but I love non fiction books just to pop into, just like knowing those little facts that no one else does. If I was to choose though I would have to say fiction there is something so nice about being absorbed in a story.

Fantasy World or Real Life Issues?

Definitely real life issues (that are ever so slightly distorted), I have just never been that into the fantasy world.

Now I tag you!

Playing With My Emotions…Sadness/ Helplessness

The Second Husband by Louise Candlish

I read this book when I first started university on the 6am train to get  to an early lecture I spend a ridiculous amount of time in tears.
The second husband is about Kate a lady who is going through a bad divorce and also has two children a young boy and a teenage daughter called Roxy.
Then Davis moves in next door and he makes everything a bit better and so they marry.

Everything is perfect until she finds out he is actually is love with her daughter.
I remember reading that book and feeling the same emotions as if it actually happened to me.Kate not only feels betrayed by Roxy and Davis but also by herself, the signs were there all along after all. I even felt these emotions when I wasn’t reading the book.

I would feel kind of helpless especially when Davis runs away with Roxy to France and due to her age they can’t seemed to get her back all they can do is wait.
