Food…The White Bear in Middlewich

This pub re-opened a few months ago and we have been planning to go ever since so today we thought why not?
This place is smart both inside and out and is very popular throughout the week.
As we entered the building the first thing we heard was a woman screaming at her dog to sit down. When we sat at the table is was dirty but when we asked for it to be wiped it was done straight away. We were quite near the kitchen window and despite the very considerate chef – who although you could hear them working- they were quiet.
The same could not be said for the waitresses one in particular who had blonde hair and was wearing see-through leggings kept shouting things in the kitchen. The chefs kept asking her to be shut up but she didn’t seem to get it.
The food, although badly presently was actually quite pleasant. The chefs were also producing the food at quite a good rate. For the food I would definitely come here again. The desserts were delicious.
The waitress spilt coke all over the table and didn’t even attempt to clean it up, and the waitresses were all in jeans or leggings. I found this quite unprofessional.
The mains were pleasant, the desserts were amazing and everything was local and of good quality.
So I would give this place:
Top marks for the food, just a bit more work on the service.

Food…The John Millington in Cheadle

So as I was working late the b0yfriend and I decided to go out for dinner last night, it was really great to relax after working hard all week. We picked this place at random and it was the perfect choice.

The John Millington is a pub with a seperate dining area and was really busy, but this was purely down to it being a great place. We were sat as soon as we got there and straight away orders were taken food was quick to arrive and it was delicious. Both the boyfriend and I really fancied a steak so we had fillet steaks (me medium rare, him blue) and they were delicous the bernaise sauce that came with them was even better. The only upsetting part of the experience was that I couldn’t eat it all so I had no room left for dessert!

The menu here was great and there was lots of things I would have chosen if I didn’t have a meat craving.

The bill came to roughly £65 (plus £5 tips) and that was for two courses and a glass of wine for me and two large diet cokes for the boyfriend. Here’s what we got for that:

We shared three appetisers:

Mini mac and cheese : delicous the sauce could have been a bit thicker but it was still amazing.

Mini Sausages and BBQ sauce: the sauasages were of excellent quality and went really well with the sauce.

Mini Southern Fried Chicken: perfect bread crumbs and fried to perfection.

Me : Fillet steak Medium Rare with chips bernaise sauce, onions rings and a mushroom. The steak was cooked right too!

The Boyfriend: The same as me but blue.

Me: White wine and lemonade, a little bit dry for me but still lovely and nice and cold.

The Boyfriend: Two Large Diet Cokes

I would give the place a:

Even the toilets were pleasant!

If you find yourself in Manchester leave the city centre and come here instead. Now drool over the pictures.

Shopping Trip and EAT. …

We decided to go shopping, which basically meant well over an hour in Waterstones and not an awful lot else. As I have kindle I like to go and smell the books even if that is weird but I do miss a good paperback. We went to EAT. For a sandwich and it was gorgeous I had a tuna melt toastie and the boyfriend had a steak melt one.

I had a scone and he had a chocolate muffin.

I would definitely recommend it the service was really good and there was lots of choice!

Last Night…

Last night I was completely and utterly spoilt. I finished work at 2.30pm and at 3.30pm the boyfriend picked me up from the train station.
I then got home and he made me some toast – I love toast. Then whilst I was blogging and reading he made a roast dinner. We had roast chicken, potatoes, parsnips, yorkshire puddings and a ridiculous amount of veg.
Then after that delicious meal he ran me a hot bubble bath and lighting scented candles and placed them around the bathroom.
I was so relaxed! So thank you to the boyfriend for a really special evening.

Lunhctime at The George and Dragon….Yum

Today the boyfriend and I went out to a local pub for some lunch and we were not disappointed the food was delicious. We were originally just going to go out for a Sandwich but they were so good we decided to stay for dessert. We sat outside in the perfect weather and got some sun.

What we ate

Pulled Pork Baguette with side salad

Bakewell Pudding with vanilla icecream

The Boyfriend

Steak Sandwich (medium rare) with side salad

Triple Choclate Brownie with vanilla icecream

We also shared a portion of chips.

There weren’t any naughty children either. But the quote of the day goes to the young girl who was told she couldn’t have ice cream and replied, ‘Mummy you are not my friend and you are not my sister’.

There’s also some pictures for you.
