Book Habits Tag!

Hi Everyone,

So here is another tag that I stole from a variety of Youtube videos – I just love doing them.

Ok so let’s begin.

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading? I do yes, this is normally on the sofa in a kind of lying down position. Sometimes I may also sit on the bed to read.
2. Bookmark or random piece of paper? I don’t often read tree books anymore but when I do, it is definitely a random piece of paper. As much as I would love one of those beautiful leather bookmarks that some people have I would just lose it,
3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages? I can stop reading at any time but I generally prefer when I have finished a chapter or when I get a certainĀ  number of pages.
4. Do you eat or drink while reading? Yes normally I like to have a huge cup of tea to keep me going I will also read quite often when eating my lunch at work.
5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading? I can’t really have TV on when I read it just distracts me too much. I also watch shows that I need to concentrate on quite a bit such a film shows or documentaries and I don’t want to miss something. I love to listen to music quietly whilst reading though.
6. One book at a time or several at once? I can only read one book at a time if I read two or more it just confuses me and I don ‘t know where I’m up to.
7. Reading at home or everywhere? I take public transport to and from work so I often read then and also I will read at my desk during break and so on.
8. Reading out loud or silently in your head? Silently.
9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages? No, never.
10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new? I likeĀ  a book to stay looking nice and new as long as possible. Inevitably thought the spine is going to break or the corners of the book are going to curl, I just don’t want to rush that process.
11. Do you write in your books? No. When I was school I used to as the notes help me figure things out. Now I read for pleasure so I don’t need to.
12. Who do you tag? Everyone!

Life Goals 2014

Hi Everyone,

2013 has been a great year, a very fast year, but a great one. In this year I have made new friends. got a promotion and travelled to new places. I have so much to be thankful for and I am really looking forward to the new year. I am 23 in April and whilst I know that isn’t old I want to try out as many new things as possible in 2014 and here are some of them:

  • Visit a country I have never been to before. I already have plans to go to Belgium and Germany in March and I am very excited.
  • Do something that scares me – this year I went on a number of rollercoasters at Alton Towers that I would normally never dream of. I hated it but at least I can say I did it.
  • Work towards getting another promotion at work.
  • Get my driving license and buy my first car.
  • Pay off my student overdraft.
  • Start a youtube channel.
  • Successfully blog everyday.
  • Learn a new skill.
  • Go to a gig – I aim to do this most years and more often the not I do. This year it was Thirty Seconds to Mars and they were fantastic.

This is just a small list but they all add up to big things. What do you wish to do in 2014 that will really make it count?

How I Read Tag…

book pile

Hi Everyone,

Here is another tag that I stole from youtube and this is the How I Read Tag, I hope you find this interesting and perhaps even try this one for yourselves.

How do you find out about new releases?

I find out about them in a number of ways. Book blogs, amazon and youtube to name but a few.

How did you get into reading?

I started really reading when I was nine and my brother had just started secondary school. He used to check out the maximum number of book a week – this would be six, four for him, two for me – and bring them home. This got my into to loads of authors some of which I still like now.

How have you tastes changed as you have grown older?

Yes they have. Chick lit was my genre in my teenage years and although I still read those books I am into other genres now. When I was eighteen I picked up Misery by Stephen King and that changed everything.

How often do buy books?

To be honest as I have a kindle I will just buy the odd book here and there as they are so cheap and so many collections are available. To be honest I buy books all the time.

How did you get into book blogging?

Last year my boyfriend saw something that I had written and persuaded me to put it on the blog. Initially this blog was not about books but it had developed from there.

How do you react when you don’t like the end of a book?

If I hate the ending of the book I just feel really disappointed. It it bothers me too much I may even shout at the book.

How often do you take a sneaky look at the last page of the book to see what happens?

Never. I absolutely hate spoilers. I avoid book reviews and will not go near the book’s blurb/summary. I want to discover things on my own.

Who are you going to tag?

Blogging: How to Keep on Going

Hi Everyone,

After my recent hiatus I have decided to write a little post for myself to help me keep on blogging and think these may be helpful for some of you guys to:

  1. Find a Schedule and Stick to It: Make it obtainable. When I blogged last time I was putting up two posts a day. Yes I could do it (and I normally wrote in huge blocks on my days off) but I was putting huge pressure on myself and it meant I had to keep thinking of ideas. This gets hard when you get past 250 posts.
  2. Get a Blogging Notebook: Your blog may be digital but this notebook should be physical. This needs to be easy for you to refer back to. This can be done on the bus to work and you can let your inspiration run wild.
  3. Use Tags: Books tags are one of my favourite blogging tools. It is so easy to get in a review rut. Some blogs are purely for reviews and that is fine but if you want to share your entire book life this is the way to do.
  4. Keep Reading: This may seem extremely obvious but I don’t just mean books here. I mean other blogs, the newspapers, magazines and websites. These will inspire you This also can open real discussion on your blog.

Thank you for reading this and I hope some of these have proven useful. How do you keep blogging? What inspires you? Let me know in the comments below.
