New Poem… Jayne (JJ)

I was just aged seven,

When my mummy went to heaven,

She was pretty and bright,

And could cuddle just right,

She liked playing games with my brother,

No doubt, she was born to be a mother,

I, 8 months old, my dad left her all alone,

But we were happy, on our own,

Christmases, Brithday, just us three,

My brother, my mummy and me,

Finish school ketchup butties and hugs,

That time we all had stomach bugs,

I quite proud of the woman I’ve become,

And it’s all down to you mum,

It’s 14 years since you left us all alone,

But you loved me so I’m happy on my own,

You should know I’m crying as I write this,

But it’s not from upset, pain or anguish,

It’s becausse of all the good times we had together,

They will stay with me forever,

I’d like a chance to say things I didn’t before,

I’d need a few minutes, an hour, no more,

But then what if my thoughts all came to the top?

Once I’d start I don’t think I could stop,

Without this chance though, I’ll still fine,

Just so grateful to have a mother like mine,

You see JJ you’re in my heart and in my head,

And aslong as you’re there, you’re not really dead.

Now Kensuke Okabayashi… Can Make Me into an Artist?

Yesterday I reviewed a video tutorial I had taken by Mark Crilley and under his careful instruction I was able to draw a pretty convincing eye. I was then inspired and decided to delve into the Manga For Dummies book I had on the shelf.

Kensuke Okabayashi is the author of this book and it is filled with her illustrations and thousands of useful hints and tips. As I have no creative ability what so ever I decided to draw a fairly basic manga face with a fancy bow. I know that one of the eyes is too far to the side and the mouth could be better, but on the whole I quite like what I’ve done.

It isn’t as easy to teach someone via¬† a book as is it video, so I measure this accomplishment almost akin to first eye I draw. Here’s some pictures of the book (and some on the pages I used) and my finished effort. I was bought this book as a present, and I would actually recommend it, but you can decide for yourselves…

Review Mark Crilley On Youtube….Can you Teach Me How To Draw?

Throughout my life I have loved to draw, sadly it is never something I have been very good at. I was looking at video lessons on youtube and decided to complete this one.
I took a lesson to draw a realistic eye. The video is available here.
And here’s my eye, I am really impressed. This video had ten millions views and it isn’t hard to see why. He spoke very clearly and didn’t cover his work with his hands (some how to draw artists have a tendancy to do that) and it was also very easy to stop the video at points and see exactly where he was up to. Great work!

Compare my finished eye to what you can see on the video and tell me what you think.
